1st / 2nd flatiron trail 2024
september - october 2024 A crew of four constructed a 12-step staircase and a 36-square-foot sidewall. The project took four weeks to complete. The project site necessitated work as the area had been widened, severely eroded, and the backslope was not cut to a sufficient angle of repose. The site harbored a steep ascent and lacked a sufficient structure to address the associated problems. Rock for the project was sourced from a nearby talus field and carried to the site. This section of trail is part of the entrance to one of the most popular trails in the system and therefore required attention due to the high volume of use. Project was completed for the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks.
