Mikala grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated from Colorado College with a BA in Studio Art and a Minor in Education. After graduating, she completed the Land Arts of the American West semester at the University of New Mexico and showed films at associated exhibitions. She is an interdisciplinary artist and spent seven years working in Colorado as a trail builder and dry stone mason. She loves land art, backpacking, learning about land conservation. Mikala now lives in California.
