Mikala grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated from Colorado College with a BA in Studio Art and a Minor in Education. She spent a semester studying urban design in Copenhagen while in school. After graduating, she completed the Land Arts of the American West semester at the University of New Mexico and showed films at associated exhibitions. She is an interdisciplinary artist and has primarily worked in Boulder, Colorado as a trail builder and dry stone mason. She loves backpacking, learning about land conservation, and has recently relocated to California.
